Biography
Marshall was born on October, 17 1973, in Kansas city Missouri. His full name is Marshall Bruce Mathers. Eminem bursted onto the charts in the US in 1999. Marshall lived with his mother in different locations until they eventually ended up staying in Detroit at the age of 12. In 9th grade Marshall dropped out of school and joined groups called the New Jacks and D12. Emeinem released a raw album in 1997 through the independant label FBT. He was determined to succeed and it helped that he was given a boost from the Source's Unsigned Hype colomn. He gained revenge on critics when he won Wake Up Show's Freestyle Performer Of The Year award. He also finished runner-up in the LA annual Rap Olympics. In following years The Slim Shady EP featured some Vitriotic attacks on his detractors. His track "Just Don't Give A Fuck" became a popular hit, and also gave him a guest appearance on MC Shabaam Sahddeg's "Five Star Generals" single. Eminem was signed to Aftermath Records by label boss Dr. Dre, who adopted Marshall as his protege and acted as a co-producer on Eminems full length debut. Dre's beat consisted of the twisted voilent lyrics with a moral outlook. Redeemed by Eminems claim to only be voicing the thoughts of Slim Shady's character. Guilty Conscience climed to number 2 on US album in March of 1999.
